The splendid Sharda Devi Temple in Maihar comes all alive in the morning when the doors get open to welcome the devotees with blazing diyas and aroma of freshly plucked flowers. But, it’s not the priest who does the morning rituals; indeed, the temple has intriguing folklore to tell. There were two warriors Alha & Udal who were blessed with the boon of immortality by Maa Sharda. Hence, it is believed that even today, the duo visits the temple every morning to adorn the place and offer prayers.
